Motorola Donates to Tianjin Hospitals in Fighting Against SARS
Tianjin-June 11, 2003--
Motorola Tianjin manufacturing site donated 200,000 RMB of cash and 1,380,000 RMB worth of electronic communications equipment to Tianjin Hai He Hospital, Infection Hospital, Wu Jing Hospital, Pneumonic Hospital, the First Center Hospital and relatives of martyr Pei Honglie against SARS. This is the follow up of Mike Zafirovski, President and COO of Motorola Inc. 's donation (11.8 million RMB worth of electronic equipment and cash) to China central government during his China visit on May 17. The ceremony was held at Motorola TEDA operations, which was attended by Tianjin and TEDA government officials, director of Tianjin Health Bureau, heads of hospitals and Pei Honglie's relatives, and management of Motorola Tianjin.

Heretofore, Motorola donated 1,000,000 RMB worth of communications equipment and paper grown to Tianjin for SARS combat on April 30.
Joseph Steinberg, Vice President of Motorola Inc., General Manager of Motorola Semiconductor Products Sector China and MOS17, addressed his welcome on behalf of Motorola to the guests. "As the largest foreign company in China, Motorola has been taking every effort to become a good corporate citizen here and dedicated itself into many commonweal events. "He said, " I am so proud of Motorola employees for their generosity where the money and appliance are totally from the salary of their own. This is a speaking example of our commitment to making lives more beautiful, the core value of the company."
Mr. Pi Qiansheng, the standing member of Tianjin Communist Party Committee, Director of Bin Hai New Area expressed the conviction that "being the support for the whole city of Tianjin, the contribution will remarkably benefit the combat on the spread of SARS along with the improvement of medical treatment and communications equipment."
Representative of employees from Motorola Tianjin indicated respect to the doctors for their bravery, cautiousness and conscientiousness. The donation is a way to express the concern and to help them get through the difficulties.
