Motorola Reorganizes Country Management Team in China
Growth Strategy on Track
BEIJING, China - 11 August 2003 --Motorola, Inc (NYSE:MOT) a global leader in integrated communications and the largest foreign investor in China, today announced the appointment of Gene Delaney as chairman of the board, Motorola (China) Electronics Limited (MCEL). In addition, Delaney, executive vice president of Motorola Inc. also serves as president of the Motorola's Global Relations and Resources Organization. He reports directly to the company's chairman and chief executive officer, Christopher Galvin. Previously, the posts of chairman and president of MCEL were held by Tim Chen who has resigned from the company.
Ruey Bin Kao, has been appointed executive director of the board, and acting-president, MCEL, in addition to his present post as corporate vice president and general manager of Motorola's Global Telecom Solutions Sector, Greater China, Motorola will engage its leadership supply process to identify the appropriate candidate for president of MCEL. The selection team includes Delaney, Kao and Jason Lum, corporate vice president and regional director of Human Resources, Asia Pacific .
As chairman of MCEL, Delaney will actively oversee the operations in China to ensure the continuation of a successful growth strategy that has made Motorola one of the country's best-known brands and the dominant player in the Chinese handset market.
