Orchestrating a World of Personalized Music
Motorola Launches E398 and MotoMusic with Chinese Emerging Artists
BEIJING, July 2, 2004 - Motorola defines a new era of personal expression today by launching E398 MP3 mobile phone and music platform MotoMusic online for the Chinese market. As the very first of its kind in terms of music delivery and creation, E398 revolutionizes music interaction by enabling users to not only download lyrics from emerging artists, but also create personalized music.
"We're not just in the business of designing mobile phones anymore," said Ray Yam, Motorola VP and GM of China Mobile Account Division, PCS North Asia. "Our goal is to make the device formerly known as the mobile phone into the number one icon for personal expression. Our vision is to build a fully integrated music experience that will empower and propel people to express themselves in innovative and unique ways. With E398 and MotoMusic, we have enriched "personal mobile relationships" by offering choices to personal and exclusive soundtracks and mobile access to the global music community."
The MP3 handset E398 is more than a stylish and sleek appearance. Motorola has crafted this device to double as a phone and MP3 portable music player, initiating an integrated way to enjoy music. In addition to its dual 16mm 22KHZ 3D stereo surround sound speakers and a next generation removable memory card that stores up to an hour of music, MotoMusic introduces an entire universe of music content, focused on supporting cutting-edge emerging artists in China.
Leading this movement for music creation is emerging Mainland China rock star Pu Shu, who will front the E398 and MotoMusic campaign. "Pu Shu represents this campaign not only because he is an amazing talent but because he is an emotionally driven musician," said Larry Rinaldi, VP and Chief Marketing Officer of Motorola Asia Pacific. "We believe that music is one of the purest and most intimate forms of self-expression and going beyond just mainstream popular culture is what has fueled this musical revolution for self identity."
Pu Shu drew his inspiration for the nationwide hit song "Radio in my Head" from the MotoMasher - an online music program whereby users can "mash" or create their own music and mix new genres. The E398 engineered to integrate with MotoMusic enables creative independence far beyond the basic "beeps" of self-made ring-tones, bringing the joy of music creation to all music aspirants worldwide.
The E398 features a spacious 176x220 color display screen and MPEG4 Video playback capabilities allow for dynamic playback. E398 also highlights a VGA camera & flash; integrated Bluetooth Wireless Technology and compatible accessories; and downloadable J2ME games and applications.
