Motorola Receives SARFT Certification in China for Digital Cable system solutions
SARFT certifies additional Motorola set-top, headend and MediaCipher® conditional access products
BEIJING, 17 September 2004 -
Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today announced that it has received certification from the State Administration for Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) for the Motorola Dvi1000 digital cable DVB set-top and the Motorola MediaCipher® conditional access system. With these certifications, Motorola has completed testing on all key elements of the company's end-to-end digital cable solution for China. This is a significant milestone because the certifications ensure that all elements are interoperable in this fast-growing digital cable market.
Earlier in the year, Motorola submitted and received certification for several digital cable headend products including the Motorola SEM high density QAM modular and scrambler, SE1010 encoder and TMX multiplexer. SARFT is the recognized industry standards organization in China, and these certifications are expected to facilitate the rapid roll-out of digital cable. By regulating technology performance and interoperability, SARFT will enable the efficient and effective deployment of both cable infrastructure and consumer premise equipment.
"Digital cable promises greater programming content options for consumers, as well as new services and interactive applications," said Dan Sutorius, Motorola vice president of market development, digital media systems. "As a committed innovator of the emergence of digital cable in China, Motorola provides not only end-to-end network solutions, but also products that are interoperable with other systems. Motorola offers the complete solution to enable China's digital cable market to grow."
