Motorola-Ministry of Science and Technology, P.R. China Joint Program
Motorola and Ministry of Science and Technology, P.R. China cooperate in the field of next generation wireless technologies. We encouraged and organized exchange visits and cooperatively held seminars in China and U.S.. We exchange non-proprietary technology, business materials and publications frequently. In short term, the cooperative projects focus on 4G mobile communications.
Cooperation with Enterprises
Respects people is a key Motorola culture belief. The same respect extends to our fellow members in our industry, for we firmly believe cooperation is the choice for win-win relationship. Motorola has long and extensive cooperation relationship with many prominent local enterprises. For examples, we had cooperation memorandum of understandings signed with Datang and Huawei on CDMA development in December 1995 and March 2003, respectively. In June 1996, Motorola base station and Datang mobile switching center successfully accomplished the first CDMA phone call. In May 2000, Motorola and Huawei achieved A interface and dual band tests in Shangdong.
University Programs
MCRDI has extensive cooperative programs with leading universities in China. These programs include exploration of advanced technologies in the communication fields and related subjects through joint effort. Also, regular and ad hoc academic lectures and seminars are held by Motorola researchers and their research partners in local universities to discuss the frontier issues of information and communications technology.
Motorola understands the importance of talents, and became the first wholly foreign-owned enterprise holding post-doctor station in China in 1999. Motorola and Tianjing University has a post-doctoral project, they do research and design on environmental friendly material and product, their first post doctoral completed the project in October 2002. Motorola and Software School, Peking University's cooperation perfected the courses system and teaching outlines; founded the embedded system joint lab and the practice bases and cultivated software engineers.
Furthermore, Motorola is currently working with universities on internship, such as Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing University of Post & Telecommunications, Beihang University, Beijing University of Technology, Tsinghua University and Shanhai Fudan University.
