Six Sigma at MCRDI
Six Sigma is a business initiative first introduced by Motorola in 1986. It is a proven tool set for driving and achieving transformational change within an organization, a business improvement process that focuses an organization on customer requirements, process alignment, analytical rigor, and timely execution, and a measure of quality that strives for near perfection. The Six Sigma process uses data and rigorous statistical analysis to identify "defects" in a process or product, reduce variability, and achieve as close to zero defects as possible.
SEI CMM at MCRDI
The Capability Maturity Model for Software, initiated by the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute (SEI), has been a model used by many organizations to identify best practices useful in helping them improve their software engineering management practices and increase the maturity of their processes. It has proved to be useful in helping organizations to achieve the goals of higher quality and productivity, faster delivery, lower costs, and better morale. CMM was first introduced to China in 1993 by Motorola, who set up its Global Software Group China Center, the first organization in China Mainland to base its business development on CMM.
Motorola's GSG China and GTSS China Design Center achieved SEI CMM Level 5 in September and December in 2000, respectively, and Motorola has become the first organization enjoying the highest reputation in the software industry in China.
